On April 18, 2019, Purileaf’s Niagara Falls facility was granted a standard processing license by Health Canada.   This license serves as a major milestone towards the execution of Purileaf’s business model, which includes contract processing as well as production and commercialization of downstream cannabis products.  

Purileaf is one of a select few LPs in Canada that focuses primarily on cannabis processing, allowing it to lower costs while developing expertise in the large-scale manufacture of standardized, high-quality cannabis derivatives.  The processing license is also instrumental to Purileaf’s strategy to develop and commercialize its own pipeline of edibles and drinks following legalization in Q4, 2019. 

Purileaf’s processing facility was retrofitted from an existing warehouse in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  On June 13, 2017, Purileaf became the first ACMPR applicant in Niagara to obtain a zoning amendment to the City’s 2015 bylaw requiring every LP applicant to apply on a site-by-site basis to permit the establishment of medical marihuana facility.  

Purileaf’s licensed site is ideally located in a general industrial zone and features several pharmaceutical-grade rooms dedicated to production, packaging, secured storage and shipping.  The facility’s floors and walls have been covered with anti-microbial, anti-moisture, non-toxic, and non-leaching material to ensure a safe work environment and a healthy product free of contaminants.  Over the last two years, the company’s leadership team has created a state-of-the-art facility capable of processing over 15,000 kg of raw material annually into high quality, purified, and custom derivatives.
